How
to join CleanFit: Joining CleanFit
is simple. Basically, you just show up! There is no obligation
to joining and there are no minimum commitments. Volunteering with
CleanFit simply means following the guidelines and procedure listed below.
Once you have read the guidelines and procedure and are in agreement with
them, show up at the next Clean-spot and pitch in!
CleanFit guidelines for volunteers: Work at your own pace. If you have any questions about your health and how much of a workout you should be doing, contact your physician before starting any exercise program.
Work
safe. Make sure you are wearing your
CleanFit vest for visibility while working. Always use gloves and or tools to pick
up glass or metal or other trash that might be dangerous to touch.
Dont put yourself in danger by trying to lift heavy items or venturing
into dangerous areas to remove litter. If in doubt about the safety
of handling any trash or substance, leave it and notify the Group Leader.
Respect
property lines. CleanFit works in public
areas and in private areas in which we have specific written permission
to work. If there is a private area to be cleaned on a clean-up route,
the Group Leader will carry the written permission for the group to be
on that property. Do not venture onto private property without first
seeing the written permission held by the Group Leader.
Indemnity:
CleanFit
is not a corporation or a non-profit. We are simply a group of volunteers.
All volunteers must understand that their participation is completely for
their own benefit. CleanFit may not be held responsible for the actions
of any volunteer nor for any damages or losses incurred upon or by any
volunteer.
CleanFit pick-up procedure: Meeting: A CleanFit pick-up mission begins by meeting at a designated Clean-spot listed on the calendar on our web site. Directions and parking instructions should be available on the calendar page. All volunteers should plan to be 15 minutes early to warm up, stretch, meet other group members and be debriefed on the days mission.
Debriefing:
Each
clean-up mission will have a Group Leader who will debrief the group before
the designated start time. Debriefing will cover the route to be
followed on the mission, drop points for collected trash and any information
or goals specific to that days mission. The Group Leader will distribute
CleanFit vests to volunteers as well as bags, gloves and tools provided
by the town.
Mission:
Missions
will be planned to last for about a half hour, for those who wish to work out for
that long, but volunteers are encouraged to plan their own workout duration
and intensity based on their own personal limits and goals. The mission
will begin promptly at the designated start time. Each mission will
be led by the Group Leader who will provide direction throughout the mission.
Finish:
Volunteers
may finish whenever they deem appropriate for themselves. Bags of
collected trash will be left for town pick-up at designated locations in
the mission area. The Group Leader will collect vests, gloves, tools
and unused bags when each volunteer finishes or at the end of the mission.
