Spring Clean-Up Event

Over 50 people participated in cleaning up Willow Street Park on Saturday June 12th, 2004. It was a beautiful sunny day hot enough to sit in the shade of the park's trees but not too hot to clean and paint and play basketball. The goals of the day's event were to clean up litter, paint the brick walls and jungle gyms and paint over grafitti. A lot of enthusiastic volunteers met the challenge and then some. The basketball court was touched up, overgrown grass and branches were cut back, flowers were planted and even the park's chess boards were restored. After burgers, hotdogs and ice cream, the park was immediately put to use with basketball games and children enjoying the swings and other attractions.

The event was sponsored by Neighborhood Housing Services of New Britain as well as other New Britain organizations which donated dollars and resources to make the event a success. See the links below for more information on these organizations. Scroll down to see pictures from the event.
